In 1927, the administrative responsibility of Lingnan University was assumed by the Chinese nationals. Dr. Wing Kwong Chong became the President and Mr. Sun Ke was the Chairman of Board of Trustees (BOT). By the 1930s, Lingnan University had developed into a well-known comprehensive university with disciplines in Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine and Business. With an impressive faculty and its graduates found all over the world, Lingnan University had extensive influence at home and abroad, it established academic links with many famous universities worldwide. In 1952, as a result of the reorganization of all the universities in China, Lingnan’s departments were incorporated into other universities, primarily Zhongshan University (now known as Sun Yat-Sen University). Meanwhile, Zhongshan University moved from Shi-Pai campus site to Hong Lok.
